Beacon Bistro
Here at Beacon Academy, we believe that, as part of promoting a healthy lifestyle, it is important to teach children life skills such as cooking. Health and Well being is a key priority within Curriculum for Excellence, and cooking has an important part to play in this. Furthermore, cooking is a cross curricular subject involving literacy skills, numeracy skills and technology skills and enables children to become Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Responsible Citizens and Effective Contributors.
We have two experienced members of staff at Beacon who have the 'Food for Life - Bronze award' Mrs Green and Mrs Friar.
Mrs Green running a 'Cooking Club' all year round for a 4 week block so all children from Year 1- Year 6 get the opportunity to develop their cooking skills.
